Why this site exists

Often, gyms have different pricing arrangements like joining fees, seasonal fees and other hidden charges that you don't see at checkout. It's frustrating. What feels like a good monthly deal isn't actually a good deal. For you that is. It needs to be right for you like how you get to work, where you live and how long you you can travel to your fitness class. This is our attempt at solving that problem that we have faced and our research has shown. Community and crowdsourcing is our philosophy so let us know what is working and what is not so we can improve.

The problem

A London gym advertises a monthly rate. On top of it sits a joining fee, often an admin fee, sometimes an annual maintenance charge. None of them appear next to the headline number and none are the same between operators — so a £24.99 gym with a £20 joining fee costs more in year one than a £26.49 gym with none, and there is no way to see that from the outside.

Studio to studio pricing under the same company makes it worse. Same brand, often same kit, same membership but a different price depending on the postcode. That's fair as not all parts of the City are created equal but it makes it hard to compare what seems like a good deal to commit to and what is a good way to compare day passes to try with your friends. Nobody publishes that comparison so we became the first.

What we do about it

We update our site automatically from operator websites or our team reaches out to them directly so we can update our site so you can have the latest prices to compare. We mention the date of when the last update to prices has gone out. Sometimes gyms may put promotional prices or exclusive deals in between our refreshes. We won't always catch that as this is on a best efforts basis.
